Agatha E. Strathman

Agatha E. Strathman, 90, of Baileyville, KS, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. She was transferred there from Crestview Manor care home where she had been a resident since 1999.
She was born September 2, 1915, the daughter of Frank C. and Josephine Burdiek Strathman on a farm southwest of Seneca. Later the family moved to a farm south of Baileyville. Agatha attended Center School and helped on the family farm.
She did domestic work, including with the Dr. Ackerman family, taking care of their children in their home for several years. Later she worked as a cook at the hot lunch program for the Baileyville Schools until her retirement. She took care of her parents and lived with them in Baileyville. In 1990 she moved to Seneca.
She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society at the church in Baileyville, and more recently a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Agatha enjoyed quilting, gardening, and playing cards with her family and friends.
Survivors are a brother, Galen Strathman of Seneca; two sisters, Darlene Haug of Seneca and Mary Kay Fangman of Topeka; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Sylvester and Adrian Strathman, and three sisters, Frances Kramer and two infant sisters, Eileen and Berniece Strathman.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Saturday, January 28, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baileyville. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart Cemetery or Crestview Manor Activity Room, and sent in care of the family.
