Galen C. Lackey, 63, of Seneca, Kansas, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Galen was born on June 24, 1949, on the family farm north of Seneca to Cletus and Anna Schroeder Lackey. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul High School and graduated with the class of 1967.

He married Marilyn Kramer on May 11, 1974 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. The couple lived in Topeka for five years before returning to Seneca. They celebrated 38 years of marriage.

Galen was employed by J-Six Farms and Koelzer Lumber and Seneca Ready Mix before retiring in 2004.

He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; a son, Brad (Gretchen) Lackey of Kansas City, Kansas; two daughters, Jennifer Lackey of Austin, Texas and Sara (Chris) McMullen of Hiawatha; his mother-in-law, Alma Kramer of Goff, Kansas; his siblings, Richard Lackey of Topeka, Rosalee Chance of Olathe, Tom Lackey of Topeka, Stephen Lackey of Topeka, Larry Lackey of Seneca and Sharon Posner of Pensacola, Florida; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, David on October 3, 2003; his parents; and his brother Donald Lackey.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Thursday, December 20, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given in Galen’s memory for Sts. Peter & Paul Church and C.O.I.N.S. for a Cause, and sent in care of the family.
