Helene Dalinghaus
Seneca, KS

Helene M. Dalinghaus, 93, of Seneca, formerly of Baileyville, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia.
She was born on January 1, 1920 on a farm southwest of Baileyville, to Frank and Josephine Fangman Kohake. She graduated from Axtell High School in 1938.
Aloysius H. and Helene Kohake Dalinghaus were married on April 24, 1940 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. The couples were married for 20 years before Aloysius’s death on July 6, 1960.
Helene helped at the Sts. Peter and Paul Mission Center for many years. She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Sodality.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul “Richard” Dalinghaus on November 13, 2010; a grandson, Jeffery Dalinghaus on December 24, 1997; a granddaughter, Cheri Gahagan on October 1, 1987; and two siblings, Giles Kohake and Rita Wietharn.
She is survived by her children, Rita (John) Gahagan of Benton, KS, Larry Dalinghaus of Topeka, Eugene (Marietta) Dalinghaus of Baileyville and Joan (Gary) Wadley of Topeka; a daughter-in-law, Janet Dalinghaus of Seneca; a sister, Mary Faith Dalinghaus of Seneca; 19 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Rosaries will be prayed on Thursday, November 21st at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, followed by burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery of Baileyville.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter and Paul School of Seneca or to St. Jude’s Hospice.
