Keith D. Strathman, 27, of Seneca, KS, died Monday afternoon, January 8, 2007, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. He had been undergoing treatment for a malignant brain tumor since October 2005.
He was born September 10, 1979, in Seneca, the son of Donald and Julie Stallbaumer Strathman. He graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul Grade School and from Nemaha Valley High School in 1998. Keith was a good student who also enjoyed playing basketball, football, and American Legion Baseball. In the fall of 1998, he entered Benedictine College where he played basketball. After two years at Benedictine, he transferred to Kansas State University where he graduated in 2002. Following college he was employed by Flint Hills Beverage in Manhattan.
On December 28, 2002, he married Emily Nordhus at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. They lived in Manhattan until 2004 when they moved to Seneca. Keith was employed at the Seneca Wholesale from 2004 as a route supervisor until the present time.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Joseph Society at the church in Seneca, and was a volunteer with the Seneca Fire Department.
Survivors are his wife Emily and their son John, both of the home; his parents, Don and Julie Strathman of Seneca; a brother, Andy and his wife Molly of Seneca; a sister Becky Strathman of Lawrence; and grandparents, Marie E. Stallbaumer, and Bob and Grace Strathman, all of Seneca.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Norbert Stallbaumer on October 9, 1972.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 PM Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, and at 7 PM Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for an education fund for his son, John, or for Sts. Peter & Paul School, and sent in care of the family.
