Frank G. Tappehorn

Frank G. Tappehorn, 64, of Kelly, Kansas, died Sunday evening, February 11, 1979. He was stricken at his home with an apparent heart attack and was taken to Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, where he was dead on arrival.
He was born December 8, 1914, at Greeley, Kansas. His parents were Victor and Johanna Schroeder Tappehorn. When he was four years old, the family moved to Kelly, Kansas, where he grew up and attended school at St. Bede’s Catholic Grade School, Kelly, Kansas. He worked at the Farmers Union Grocery Store in Kelly, Kansas with his father. In 1952, he worked for Zelfer Hardware in Goff, Kansas. In 1955, he was employed by the First National Bank at Goff, Kansas, where he was a cashier and a director at the time of his death.
Frank was a well liked man who was active in his church and community. His memberships include St. Bede’s Catholic Church, the St. Bede’s Men’s Society, Kelly, Kansas; The Knights of Columbus 1769 at Seneca, Kansas, and Goff Lions Club, Goff, Kansas, of which he was a past president.
Survivors include one brother, Joseph (Bud) Tappehorn of Sabetha, Kansas, two sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Marie) Heinen and Miss Rose Ida Tappehorn of Kelly, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Tappehorn on April 18, 1951 and his mother, Johanna Schroeder Tappehorn on December 27, 1973.
The rosary was prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home, Seneca, Kansas, on Monday and Tuesday evenings. The Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday morning at the St. Bede’s Catholic Church, Kelly, Kansas by Fr. Vincent Wavada, OSB.
Burial was in the church’s cemetery, St. Bede’s Catholic Cemetery, Kelly, Kansas. Pallbearers were nephews, Steven Tappehorn, Joseph Tappehorn, Robert Heinen, James Heinen, William Heinen and Michael Heinen.
