Cecilia C. Niekamp

Cecilia C. Niekamp, 83, of Seneca, KS, died Thursday, October 22, 2009, at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
She was born February 18, 1926, on the Niekamp homestead east of Baileyville, KS, the daughter of Herman and Alice Larkin Niekamp. She attended Sacred Heart School and helped on the family farm.
Cecilia remained single, and worked most of her life at various jobs, including Gockel Grocery Store in Baileyville, the liquor store, the Farmers’ Elevator Company for 27 years, and the Seneca Elevator for five years as a bookkeeper. Even after she retired, she still stayed busy as housekeeper and secretary at Sts. Peter & Paul Rectory for 10 years.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, and the Nemaha County Historical Society, all in Seneca.
She is survived by her twin sister, Aurelia Stallbaumer of Seneca, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Paul in infancy and Elmer on March 18, 2000; and two sisters, Anna Hammes on August 14, 2003 and Louise Stuke on September 15, 2008.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Saturday, October 24, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baileyville. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given in Cecilia’s memory for Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or Sacred Heart Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
