Janet E. Jeanneret

Janet E. Jeanneret, 64, of Seneca, KS, died on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Onaga Community Hospital, after fighting a year-long battle against cancer.

Janet was born on June 4, 1947 in Marysville, KS, the daughter of William T. and Myrtle Clark Orr. She was raised in Marysville, where she attended grade school and graduated from Marysville High School. On September 12, 1965 Janet married Douglas W. Jeanneret at the First Christian Church in Marysville.

Janet was a co-owner of Jeanneret Welding, which gave her children the opportunity to see her at home after school and at every one of their sporting events and activities. In the fall of 1988, Janet began working in the Nemaha Valley School District. She started as a cook at Nemaha Valley High School and later became a Special Education paraprofessional at Nemaha Valley Elementary School and then finally at Nemaha Valley High School, where she made many friends. Janet became a member and president of a T.O.P.S. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) chapter in Marysville where she made even more friends.

Janet loved cooking and gardening and taking care of the lawn. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and attending their activities.

Janet is survived by her husband Doug of Seneca; three children, Laurie and her husband Vic Hammer of Madison, WI, Denise Heavner of Mayetta, KS and Brian and his wife Melissa of Overbrook, KS; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Caleb, Zachary, Will, Elaina, Mackenzie and Chayse; one brother, Ronald Orr and his wife Betty of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Carol Ann Phelps and her husband Charlie of Arkansas City, KS; her mother-in-law, Norma Jeanneret of Onaga, KS; her husband Doug’s three brothers and two sisters and their spouses; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Billy; her father-in-law Wilbur Jeanneret; a niece, Chris Stevens; a nephew, Jeff Orr; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Suther.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, October 26, at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Burial will be in the Marysville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, October 25, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Pall bearers are Kevin Colwell, Lance Fitch, Todd Glissman, Kory Hochler, Travis Jeanneret and Tom Phelps. Vocalist for the service is Terry Jordon.
