Loren John Deters, 50, of Westmoreland, Kansas lost his life in a tragic tractor accident on Monday, September 4, 2017.
Loren was born on December 29, 1966 to Bernard H. and Edith Marie Rempe Deters. He graduated from Centralia High School with the Class of 1985. He attended Manhattan Vo-Tech in auto body, completing in 1987. He worked for Briggs Auto for 28 years, while part-time farming and raising cattle. He “retired” from Briggs to pursue his love of farming and cattle ranching.
Loren married Stephanie Forgy in 2006; to this union two children were born, Crayton and Emeri. The couple later divorced.
Loren was a loving father and was actively involved in his children’s activities. He spent every available moment he could with his precious children; he coached baseball, T-ball and Flag Football. He was also involved in their 4-H activities. He simply loved spending quality time with his children.
Loren was chairman of the Pottawatomie County Rural Water District #2. He was a member of a St. Columbkille’s Church in Blaine and was on the Parish Council.
He was an avid Kansas State University fan, who enjoyed water skiing, camping, tractor pulls and paint ball. Prior to the birth of his children he enjoyed showing his 1972 Satellite Sebring; but once they were born they became is priority.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard A. and Anna Wiltz Deters and William E. Agnes M. Hermesch Rempe.
He is survived by his children, Crayton and Emeri Deters of Westmoreland; his parents Bernard and Edith Deters of Baileyville; and siblings, Sandy (Tim) Pedigo of Hanover, Dale (Joni) Deters of Centralia, Angie Harkins of Seneca, Adam (Lacie) Deters of Centralia and Lane (Carol) Deters of Centralia.
Rosaries for Loren Deters are Sunday, September 10th at Lauer Funeral Home at 2 and 8 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 11th at 11AM at St. Columbkille’s Church in Blaine. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be left for an Education Fund for Crayton and Emeri, in lieu of flowers.
