Audrey A. Shockey

Audrey A. Shockey, 65, of Goff, KS, died Sunday evening, June 6, 2010 in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 77 in Marshall County about 1-1/2 miles north of Marysville.

She was born on May 30, 1945 in Fremont, NE, the daughter of Frederick and Ellen Wilcox Opfer. She attended at St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School and then Arlington High School, graduating in 1963.

On June 14, 1963 she married William Shockey at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, NE. She was employed at Woolworths and Western Electric, before they moved to Kansas. She worked for CR Industries in Seneca until she retired.

Audrey’s passion and love was her flea markets, where she set up her booth and would sell, trade and buy. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, reading books about animals, collecting Ruby Red dishes and spending time with her grandchildren. She relished watching her grandchildren’s ball games, attending their school functions, and just being around them at home.

She will be missed by her husband of 46 years, William, of Goff; her children, Christina Shockey of Corning, KS, Delaina Miller of Mayetta, KS, Elly Wilber of Pittsburg, KS and Chuck Shockey of Topeka, KS; her brothers, Larry Opfer of Lincoln, NE, Merton Opfer of Kennard, NE, Dallas Opfer of Omaha, NE, Marvin Opfer of Valley, NE; her sisters, Beverly Opfer of Omaha, and Janet Roman of Winston; and her 8 grandchildren, Cole Shockey, Skyler Brook, Kylie Wilber, and Karlie, Wayle, Chase, Keaton and Caliber Miller.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, June 11, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, June 12, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
