Frank E. Koch

Frank E. Koch, 82, of Beattie, KS, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, KS following surgery.

Frank was born on a farm north of Baileyville, KS on November 14, 1927, the son of Frank and Frances Rusche Koch. He attended Baileyville School and worked on the family farm.

On September 30, 1950 he married Delores M. Spielman at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. The couple lived and farmed north of Beattie, where they raised crops and livestock and operated a dairy. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before Delores’ death on October 11, 1997.

Frank was a member of the St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Beattie and had served on the St. Malachy’s Church Council. He was a member of the National Hay Association for over 30 years. He loved to collect toy tractors.

He is survived by six sons, Terry Koch of Marysville, KS, David Koch of Summerfield, Richard Koch and Ronald Koch, both of Beattie, Lynn Koch of Conway Springs, KS, and Timothy Koch of Haysville, KS; five daughters, Carol Moore, Shari Koch and Connie Bramlage, all of Topeka, Joyce Nietfeld of St. George, KS and Laurie Cammel of Riley, KS; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his son, Eric Koch on October 13, 2004; in addition, he was preceded in death by all of his brothers, Fred, William, Leo, Paul, Alvin, Sylvester, Linus, and Raymond Koch; and his sister, Irene Fangman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 31, at St. Malachy’s Church in Beattie. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Beattie. Rosaries will be prayed at 7 PM on Thursday, July 29, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, and at 7 PM on Friday, July 30, at St. Malachy’s Church in Beattie.

Memorials may be given in Frank’s memory to St. Patrick’s Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
