Nancy Haverkamp Steinlage
Seneca,Kansas
07/15/1965 - 04/26/2018
Nancy Ann Steinlage, 52, of Seneca, Kansas peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
She was born July 15, 1965 to Robert (Bob) and Janice (Stallbaumer) Haverkamp in Seneca, Kansas. She attended Bern Grade School and High School, graduating in 1983.
She then attended Highland Community College where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Business.
Nancy married Michael (Mike) Steinlage on May 4, 1991 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Together they had four children.
After a number of years working in the banking industry, she decided to stay home to raise her young children, until they were all school age. She became the school secretary for St Peter and Paul Catholic School, where her children attended, and remained there until her illness in 2014.
Nancy was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, actively participated in the School PTO, and served as an officer for the St. Ann’s Altar society. She thoroughly enjoyed attending all of her children’s sporting and academic activities. Her life was centered around caring for and helping others. Her family was always first in her life, closely followed by her devotion to Sts. Peter and Paul School, where she embraced all the students and staff as her second family. She went above and beyond to keep the school in order. She showed the extent of her courage and strength over the last four years in her battle with leukemia and post-transplant complications. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Robert (Bob) on January 23, 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Mike; her children, Garrett Steinlage of Lenexa, Drew Steinlage and his fiancé Holly Kuckelman of Seneca; and Kacie and Hunter of the home. She is also survived by her mother Janice Stallbaumer Haverkamp of Seneca; her six brothers, Robert (Mary) Haverkamp of Bern, Mark (Francine) Haverkamp of Bern, Alan (Ronda) Haverkamp of Bern, Leon Haverkamp of Bern, Neal (Marya) Haverkamp of Bern and Kent (Jennie) Haverkamp of Lone Tree, Colorado; and her four sisters, Julie (Alan) Lierz of Seneca, Lynda (Bob) Cross of Centralia, Donna (Matt) Reschke of Olathe, Kansas and Tricia (Kevin) Cain of Miller, South Dakota.
Memorials are for COINS for a Cause and/or Sts. Peter and Paul School, sent in care of the family.
