Edith M. Deters, 85, of Seneca, died Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca

Edith was born on a farm north of St. Benedict along Turkey Creek, on February 22, 1933 to Walter and Theresa Fangman Stallbaumer. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and St. Mary’s High School and graduated in 1950. She also went to Mount St. Scholastica for a year before returning to Seneca and going to work for the Nemaha County Court house until she got married.

After she was married where she raised her family she went back to work at the Nemaha County Treasure Office and worked there until she retired in 2012.

On April 11, 1955, she married Francis S. Deters at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict. They lived and farmed northwest of Centralia. Edith lived there until 2012 when she moved into Seneca. In 2005 Francis and Edith celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Edith had many hobbies in her life but one that is and was dear to her heart was her quilting as she has made many in her day. She also liked to collecting plates, antiques, play cards, sewing, gardening and doing puzzles.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, St. Ann’s Altar Society, Church Quilters and a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis on February 3, 2006, a daughter, Marilyn Deters, on July 1, 1973 a son David on December 12, 2015. Her parents Walter on February 2, 1996, Theresa on February 3, 1989, siblings, James Stallbaumer on August 9, 1991, Clarence Stallbaumer on August 15, 1945 and Theresa Marie Stallbaumer on January 31 1943.

Survivors are her children; Three sons, James (Karen) of Eudora, Kevin (Anita) of Centralia, and John (Tammy) of Silver Lake; two daughters, Donna (Bill) Howard of Watertown, South Dakota, and Celene Pallensen of Lansing; siblings, Blanch Haug of Abilene, Pat Stallbaumer of Topeka, Edward Stallbaumer of Topeka, Kenneth Stallbaumer of Oconto, Nebraska, Joan Steinlage of Seneca, Anna Marie Hiestand of Fargo, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren and four step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Seneca at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. The Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Designated Memorials are Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School sent in care of the family.

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Seneca at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.

    Sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I never knew your mom personally but she always seemed to be such a kind and sweet lady. Our sympathy to you Kevin, your family and your extended family.
