June A. Boydston, 63, of Centralia, Kansas, died on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

June was born on June 11, 1955, in Axtell, Kansas, the daughter of Philip and Ruby Welch Feldkamp. She grew up southwest of Corning and attended Corning Grade School, graduating from the 8th grade. After closing of the school in Corning, June attended Centralia High School and graduated in 1973.

As a young woman, she worked a couple of year at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Seneca before moving to Topeka. While living in Topeka June was employed at the Flaming Steer Restaurant; later working at Holiday South and Holiday West as a cook. She was also employed as a cook at the Topeka Country Club.

While in Topeka she played on a softball team and a few leagues. While playing ball she met her “husband to be,” Robert Boydston at the games and the couple started dating. In 1981, the couple moved to Seneca and on May 22, 1982 June married Robert at the United Methodist Church in Seneca. They made their home just north of Seneca, celebrating 36 years of marriage.

June went to cosmetology after she was married and completed the course and went on to attend extensive training at Vernon’s of Wichita. She opened Reflections for a short period. June was employed Chicago Rawhide for 22 years; and then at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living until her retirement this year.

June had many interests in her life; but animals and their welfare was her passion. She loved her cats and was very protective on them.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Philip on March 10, 1991 and her mother, Ruby on November 14, 2002; and a brother, Gary on September 20, 2006.

She is survived by her husband Robert; siblings, Phillis Anderson of Centralia, Rita Glynn of Axtell, DoVeta Armstrong of Centralia, Ernest Feldkamp of Seneca and Gene Feldkamp of Centralia; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved animals.

Memorials are to a Charitable Organizations whose mission is to take care of animals.

Funeral services are Friday, June 27th at 10A.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the services.

    I was shocked and greatly saddened to see June’s obituary in the paper. I saw her 5 years ago at our high school reunion, and I think that was the first time I was greatly saddened to since high school. Her poetry was a picture of her soul, simple and beautiful. May wonderful memories comfort you and help you find peace.
