Shelli A. Holthaus Slater

Centralia, Kansas

Shelli Ann Holthaus Slater,45, of Centralia, Kansas died on Monday, August 13, 2018 at her home.

Shelli was born at the Sabetha Community Hospital on September 11, 1972, the first daughter of Eugene and Jeanette Bergman Holthaus. Shelli grew up in the Centralia community and was involved in 4-H and softball. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1991.

She attended Cloud County Community College on a softball scholarship; she attended Emporia State College, and later transferred to Washburn University, graduating in 1997 with a Physical Therapy Assistant Degree.

Shelli began her career at Plaza West in Topeka, before working for Bloom Associates; after returning to Nemaha County, she was employed at the Onaga Community Hospital. Shelli was currently employed full-time as a PTA at Life Care Center of Seneca.

Shelli enjoyed being a Mother of four boys; attending their sporting games and school events. She also loved to garden, crafts, planting trees and making scrap books of her boys.

Shelli was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning, and was currently the Vice President of the St. Ann’s Altar Society.

Shelli was preceded in death by grandparents, Cyril & Emily Holthaus, and Emmett Bergman; and her mother, Jeanette, on September 13, 2016.

Shelli is survived by her sons, Evan Slater of Manhattan, Kaleb Slater of Centralia, Colton Slater of Centralia and Thaden Slater of Centralia; her father, Eugene of Centralia; her brother, Kevin Holthaus of Seneca; two sisters, Janell (Derek) Mueller of Topeka and Sarah (Shane) Kramer of Centralia; and grandmother, Hilda Bergman of St. Benedict.

Memorials will be designated at a later date.

Rosaries will be 2 and 7 P.M. of Thursday August 16, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville.

Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 P.M. August 17, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville.

Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

    Shelli loved her boys so much. Always centered her work life around their activities and needs. Love her gentle ways and dedication to her residents. She will leave a lasting mark on all our lives. Will miss our morning chats. My sympathies to her entire family. She was a wonderful friend and coworker.

    Shelli’s presence, smile, and kind heart will be deeply missed at work. She was great to our residents and her coworkers. I will
    miss her telling me about her boys and them coming in with her from time to time. She was always so proud of them and loved to share what was going on in their lives. She is very loved and I’m so glad to have spent the time with her that I did. My condolences to her family and everyone that knew her. 💔

    Shelli, was my therapist after I had tumor removed and had to learn to walk again. She was gentle, sweet and very caring. I am so sad to hear she has left us.. God comfort her loved ones. Francie
