Marjorie Ann Bartkoski

Seneca, Kansas

Marjorie A. Bartkoski, 91, of Seneca, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Margorie “Marge” was born on January 24, 1928 to Frank and Emma Rodiger Schreiber in Ransom, Kansas. She was raised on the family farm and graduated in 1946 from Ransom High School. Marge attended Kansas State University where she met her future husband, Anthony “Tony” R. Bartkoski, and they were married on April 15, 1948. They made their home in Hartman Colorado, later moving to Lamar, Colorado, Garden City, Kansas, Hutchison, Kansas and finally Seneca, Kansas.

For over twenty years, Marge was the Hartman city clerk, helped with the harvest at the grain elevator and assisted her husband with the farm, community and church activities. Her favorite memories included driving her children to all their school and sports activities and growing flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the “rock” of the family. She held dear the traditions of making peppernuts, special Christmas cookies and dying Easter Eggs with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was her priority, and she made everyone feel special with her beautiful smile and warm hugs.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Vince and Virgil Schreiber; a sister, Darleen Sargent; and a granddaughter, Ashley Bartkoski.

Marge is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” (Sandy) Bartkoski of Seneca; her daughter, Cathy Nagel of LaJolla, California; her grandson, Dr. William “Tony” (Becky) Bartkoski of Seneca; her granddaughter, Carlie (Keith) Cochran of LaJolla, California; and great grandchildren, Will, Anna, Kate and Ella Bartkoski of Seneca and Connor Cochran of LaJolla, California.

Marge elected to be cremated, followed by a family gathering to celebrate her life.

The family requests that memorials for Marge be made to Life Care Center of Seneca, sent to the Lauer Funeral Home, 212 South 4th Street, Seneca, Kansas 66538.

    Dear family members,
    I am sorry to (belatedly) hear this news. Marge was surrounded by the love of a wonderful family. Could any life be more blessed than that? May God comfort you in your time of sorrow, and may He send you frequent reminders of the love of a good mom & grandma!
