Josephine Nordhus

Mrs. Henry Nordhus death a shock to the Community. Wednesday evening May 14, 1930, the sad death of Mrs. Henry Nordhus occurred at St. Anthony’s hospital in Sabetha. The News of her passing away was like a shock to her many relatives and friends. Mrs. Nordhus was a young mother of six living children and a little Celestine an infant daughter, who was buried with the mother, resting in the mother’s arms.
Mrs. Nordhus was the youngest daughter of Wenzel Waller Sr. who was born August 26, 1892 in Seneca, where she lived. Her maiden’s name was Miss Josephine Mary Waller. On October 15, 1912 she was married to Henry Nordhus Jr., who with the following children survive her, Margaret, Sylvester, Rita, John, Mary and Teresa. Also, her aged father Wenzel Waller Sr., five sisters, Mrs. Margaret Azier, Mrs. Eliza Beth Lierz, Mrs. Pauline Christman, Mrs. Bernard Sack of Seneca, and Mrs. Mary Boeding of Corning and three brothers, John and Peter of Seneca and Joseph Waller of Littleton, Colorado.
The Deceased was a devout member of the catholic church and belonged to St. Ann’s Altar Society, whose members were present in a body at her funeral services which were conducted Saturday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. The Requiem High Mass was chanted by her brother-in-law Rev. Clement Nordhus O.S.B. of the St. Benedict’s College, Atchison.
The Large attendance at her funeral services in spite of the rain gave evidence of her many friends who came to pay respects to the dearly departed. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
