Henry J. Nordhus
Seneca, Kansas

Henry J. Nordhus, 88, formerly of Seneca, died Saturday, July 26, 1975, at Fountain Villa Nursing Home in Sabetha. He had been a patient there since November 8, 1966.
He was born on October 12, 1886, on a farm north of Seneca. His parents were Henry J. and Elizabeth Rottinghaus Nordhus. He grew up in that area an attended country school.
On October 15, 1912 he married Josephine Waller at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. They farmed north of Seneca. On May 14, 1930, Josephine Nordhus died along with a little daughter Celestine, to whom she had just given birth. In 1958 Mr. Nordhus retired from farming and moved to Seneca where he remained until his health made it necessary for him to enter the nursing home.
His membership included Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Seneca and the Knights of Columbus Council 1769 in Seneca.
Survivors are two sons; Sylvester and John both of Seneca; four daughters, Mrs. Herman (Maragret) Stallbaumer of Centralia, Mrs. William (Rita) Keith of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Macke Macke of Baileyville and Mrs. Leonard (Theresa) Heiman of Baileyville; two brothers, Leo Nordhus of Seneca and Fr. Cyprian Nordhus, O.S.B. of Kansas City, Kanas; 41 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The rosaries were prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home on Sunday Afternoon and on Sunday evening by the Knights of Columbus and on Monday Evening. The Mass of Christian Burial was on July 29, 1975, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca. The burial was in the church cemetery.
