Dennis Lynn Van Gilder, 71, of Vermillion, died on Friday, July 22, 2022, at his home southeast of Vermilion.

Dennis was born on September 25, 1950, to James and Lucille Byers Van Gilder. He attended school at Vermillion and later received his GED. In the late 1960’s Dennis went to Topeka to KNI for a year before returning to the farm to help his parents. Dennis was employed doing odd jobs at Dutch’s Place in Vermillion. Dennis devoted hours and hours of his life to the Vermillion Cemetery over the years. Dennis was a farmer through and through and spent his entire life on the farm raising hogs, cattle and row crops.

Dennis had a passion for farming and helping when he had a chance. He was very thoughtful in sending flowers to different people over the years.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters and their husbands, Maxie and Bud Eden and Sharon and Frank Lindemuth.

Dennis is survived his brothers, Jim (Karen) Van Gilder of Centralia and Larry (Diane) Van Gilder of Topeka; sister, Sandy (Chuck) Allport of Beaver Creek, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 11AM at the Vermillion Cemetery in Vermillion, Kansas.
