Edward L. Grollmes
Netawaka, Kansas

Edward L. Grollmes, 20, of Rt. 1, Netawaka, died Friday, May 9, shortly after arrival at the Horton Community Hospital. His death was due to injuries suffered in a car accident a short time earlier on Friday.
He was born October 11, 1965, at Holton, the son of Andrew and Mary Ann Stallbaumer Grollmes. Edward graduated from Wetmore Grade School and from Wetmore High School in May of 1984. During his school years, he played basketball and football. In the summer, he enjoyed playing softball on a team at Holton. Edward began employment at the Kansas Department of Transportation in June of 1984, where he was employed at the present time at Horton.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church at Wetmore.
Survivors besides his parents are: Five brothers, Gary, Mark, Linus, and Lynn, all of the home, and Victor (Becky) of Holton; four sisters, Donna (Ron) Toman of Garnett, Clara Grollmes and Jane (Rick) Bailey both of Topeka, and Karen (Mike) Gudenkauf of Seneca; his grandparents, Elizabeth and Suitbert Stallbaumer of Seneca.
The rosary was prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday at St. James Church by Fr. Alfred Koestner. Music was provided by the church choir.
Burial was in the Wetmore Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chuck Stallbaumer, Todd Swart, Terry Smith, Mike Clowe, Doug Decker, and Kris Bloom.
Memorials may be given for St. James Church and sent in care of the family.
