Clarence John Meyer
Soldier, Kansas

Clarence John Meyer, 93 of Soldier, KS passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, Father’s Day, at Crestview Nursing Home, Seneca Kansas where he resided for the past 2 ½ years. He had his family by his side.
Clarence was born April 20, 1930 on the family farm in Baileyville, Kansas to his parents Henry and Clara Haug Meyer. He graduated Valedictorian of his class at Baileyville High School in 1948. Clarence was a member of the St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Corning Kansas. He served on the St Patrick’s School Board, Parish Council, Nemaha County Coop Board and the Pottawatomie District #3 Water Board.
One April 20, 1963, Clarence married JoAnn Glissman at St. Bede’s Church, Kelly, Kansas. They lived on their family farm south of Corning for the past 60 years. He was a grain farmer and stockman, raising both cattle and hogs during his lifetime. His hobbies were spending time with his family and going to their school events, along with collecting toy John Deere Tractors, playing cards and just being outdoors doing what he loved, which was farming.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of 60 years; his children, Gary (Lisa) Meyer, Onaga; Brenda (Dan) Hasenkamp, Centralia; Ed Meyer, Corning and Karen Meyer (Kelly Innes), Topeka. He is also survived by five sisters, Elaine Meyer (Jean Placke), Baileyville; Marilyn Holthaus, St. Benedict; Delores Saggars, Olathe; Kathy (Richard) Buessing, Axtell and Janice (Tom) Tomlinson, Sarasota, Fl.; two sister-in-laws, Alice Meyer, Baileyville and Thelma Meyer, Granger, IA. Clarence will be missed by his grandchildren, Brent (Rachel) Hasenkamp, Kansas City, Mo; Danielle (Peter) Willcott, Valley Falls; Cody (Jeri Wesley) Meyer, Onaga; Kylar (Vanessa) Meyer, Basehor; Kori (Tyler) Roberts, Topeka; Breanna Hasenkamp, Tulsa, OK; Caidin Meyer, Topeka along with ten great-grandchildren.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernis, Donald and Kenny; his sisters, Mildred and Sister Mary John; brothers-in-law, Dennis Holthaus and Steve Saggars; and sister-in-law, Marcy Meyer.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 PM on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Church, Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials can be given in Clarence’s memory to the Step Foundation Dementia Fund or to the Crestview Nursing Home’s Activity Fund, sent in care of the family.

My condolences in the death of Clarence. He was well respected as a farmer/stockman and as an individual. I think heaven needed a good farmer/stockman so God called up Clarence.
