Mary Ann Brokamp Henry
Seneca, Kansas

Mary Ann (Brokamp) Henry, 89, passed away peacefully on Oct 31, 2023, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca with her family by her side.
She was born on August 16th, 1934 on a family farm to Edwin & Anna (Hermesch) Brokamp. Mary Ann’s mother, Anna, passed away when she was 6 weeks old. Upon her passing she was raised by her grandmother, Bernadine Brokamp along with her uncles Joe & Frank and two aunts Emma & Dorothy.
Mary Ann attended Kelly Schools and graduated from Kelly High School. Her first job was working in Kansas City at St. Margaret’s Hospital. She would have to catch a train from Corning to get to work in Kansas City every week. At a high school dance, Mary Ann met the love her life, Robert B. Henry. They married on November 13, 1957 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Bob & Mary Ann lived in Kansas City until they came back to the farm in 1960. On the farm they had dairy cows and chickens. After raising her children, Mary Ann started working at the Nemaha County Engineers Office, where she worked until retirement.
Mary Ann enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo, and playing slot machines at the casino. Her & Bob loved going on mystery bus tours and traveling the continental United States. She also enjoyed quilting and was part of the Sts. Peter & Paul Quilting Club. Mary Ann was also part of the Nemaha Valley Hospital Guild.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Robert of 60 years in 2018; parents, Edwin & Anna; Frank & Dorothy, who were very near and dear to her heart; 3 infant children, Gerard, Janet, and Mary Louise. She was also proceeded in death by an infant grandson, Joseph Kramer; half sister Joyce Enneking and her husband Leroy.
She is survived by her children Diane (Steve) Flanders, Topeka; Jeanie (Clete) Kramer, Seneca; and Glen (Cheryl) Henry of Netawaka. She is survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren, half-brother Harold Brokamp of Seneca and a half-sister Janice Steinlage of Sabetha.
Rosaries will be prayed at 2 and 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca on Friday, November 3, 2023. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, at 10:30 A.M. November 4, 2023, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Kelly Heritage Fund.
