Leo B. Meyer
Wichita, Kansas
09/15/1934 - 04/28/2024
Leo B. Meyer, 89, formerly of Seneca, KS was called to his Heavenly Home on 04/28/24. Leo had been living in Wichita for the past few years to be closer to family as his health declined.
Leo was born 9/15/1934 in rural Goff, KS to Mary Becker and Alfonse Meyer. He attended school in Goff from 1st-5th grades, then the family relocated to the Centralia area where he attended Centralia schools from 6th-12th grades. While studying at Emporia State University for two years, he met and married his wife, Joyce Arlene Warren, in Topeka in January of 1956. They welcomed their son Mark in December of that year. In 1963, their daughter Alison was born.
While in Topeka, Leo worked at several service stations and the Meadow Lanes bowling alley. The year 1967 brought a move to Seneca to work at Seneca Bowl. He later purchased the business from Esther Proffitt and owned/managed it until Joyce became ill with ALS in 1997. This prompted his retirement. Joyce passed away December 4th, 1997. He then married Teresa Eisenbarth in October 1999.
Leo was quite active in the Seneca community and served as an EMT for many years. In his ‘retirement’, he and his close friend Lowell Elder traveled around NE Kansas and Nebraska refurbishing hardwood floors. In addition, he continued the sewing machine repair business that had been started by his late father-in-law, Elmo Warren.
Leo’s faith was of utmost importance to him, and it guided his lifelong path. As a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, he was honored to have served for over 25 years as a homebound Eucharistic minister, for which he received recognition in 2019. Shortly thereafter, he became physically unable to continue with the ministry. He maintained a special devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Preceding Leo in death were his parents, wife Joyce, second wife Teresa, son Mark and brothers-in-law Ralph Ward and Dennis Kirlin.
Survivors include daughter Alison (Scott) Peck of Derby; three sisters Patty Kirlin of Council Bluffs, IA, Catherine Ward of Onaga, and Sharon (Bob) Fritch of Meriden; grandchildren Natasha (Mike) Ward of Topeka, Emily Zimmerman of Haysville, Kaleb (Rachel) Meyer of Wichita, Patrick (Hollie) Meyer of Haysville, Kelcii (Chris) Fisher of Derby, Cole Peck of Derby, Alex (Krissy) Peck of CO Springs, CO, Grace Peck of Derby and Jozie Peck of Derby; and 10 great grandchildren Kenzie, Hallie, Beckham, Jaxson, Liam, Evelyn, Piper, Jensen, Mason and Scotti.

Teresa’s family adopted Leo as a full-fledged member of the Eisenbarth/ Henry families as well. Survivors include Colleen Peterson of Wichita, Bonnie (Daniel, deceased) Eisenbarth of Seneca, Denise Haas of Topeka, and Darrin Eisenbarth of Narka, along with all their families.

My best memories of Leo are when we attended prayer gatherings at the Omer Haug residence. Leo had a great devotion to our Blessed Mother. I’m sure she was present to greet him on his arrival.
