Rosedna C. Haug

Rosedna C. Haug, 86, Baileyville, KS, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

She was born January 12, 1920, the daughter of Edward and Rose Hulsing Bergman, on a farm south of Baileyville. Rosedna attended a country school called Wayside a half-mile south of her home, and later attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville. She helped on the family farm and worked with other families doing child care and domestic work.

On November 6, 1940, she married Lawrence H. Haug at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. They lived and farmed southwest of Baileyville until 1983 when they moved to Baileyville. Her husband, Lawrence, died November 21, 1983. Rose continued to live in Baileyville.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar Society at the church, the Benedictine Oblates, and the Widows and Widowers Group, all in Baileyville. Rosedna was a faithful quilter for the church and also helped at the Mission Room in Seneca. Rosedna enjoyed quilting and playing cards with her card club and family. She also enjoyed putting puzzles together.

Survivors are four sons, Francis and Gerald of Baileyville, and Kenneth and Ron of Salida, CO; a daughter, Alice R. Macke of Axtell; two sisters, Grace Kohake of Seneca and Liena Mae Wasley of Livermore, CA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Cletus on April 17, 1990, Merlin on May 9, 1999, Vern on October 16, 1988, and Mienrad on February 15, 1978; and sister, Flavia Marie (Sister Verita) on April 17, 1994.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Thursday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for the Sacred Heart Altar Society or the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, and sent in care of the family.
