Mrs. Anna Frances Heinen of Kelly, Kansas, wife of John Heinen, died Monday afternoon, May 14, 1951, at the Sabetha Hospital.
Mrs. Heinen was 74 years of age. She had been ill since early spring. She was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church at Kelly, Kansas, and of the Altar Society of the church.
Father Egbert, pastor, offered the Mass in services for her at 10.00 o’clock yesterday morning. Special interest that Mrs. Heinen had in addition to her family and church, was a love of flowers and garden. She was always cheerful, and until her recent illness had kept up her own home. Most of her married life had been lived at her home at Kelly, Kansas.
She was Anna Frances Schurmann, born at Lacona, Iowa, the daughter of Christian and Appollonia Rennenger Schurmann. She was married to John Heinen at Rosemount, Iowa in 1898. Their golden anniversary was three years ago. They came to Nemaha County, Kansas in 1907.
She is survived by her husband, and these children; Elizabeth, who is Mrs. Tony Wilhelm, Seneca, Kansas; Catherine, Mrs. Henry Sextro, Beattie, Kansas, Agnes, Mrs. Ambrose Wilhelm, Baileyville, Kansas; Jake Heinen, Kelly, Kansas; Allie, Denton, Kansas; Joe of Seneca, Kansas and George of Kelly, Kansas, twins; Edward of Huron, Kansas; Leonard, Lacona, Iowa; Susanna, Mrs. Anthony Huerter, Seneca, Kansas; Marie, Mrs. Ivan Conley, Centralia, Kansas; Raymond of Kelly, Kansas. Amelia and Henry are deceased children. Mrs. Heinen is survived by three brothers, Henry and Frank Schurmann of Lacona, Iowa, and John Schurman of Seneca, Kansas; and by one sister, Clara Frueh of St. Marys, Iowa. She leaves 41 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
At the service yesterday, grandsons served as the pallbearers; Lester, Marvin, Francis and Valentine Wilhelm; Lillis and Kenneth Sextro.
Relatives who came from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schurman, Frank Schurman, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Schurman, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Wadle, Mrs. Gervase Ripperger, all of Lacona, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Fabian Huerter, Indianola, Iowa; Mrs. Clara Frueh, St. Mary’s, Iowa; A. J. Walk, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Walk, Maryville, Missouri; Mrs. Clara Heinen, Lambert Heinen, Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Rice and family, Valley Falls, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Wilhelm and Galen, Horton, Kansas. There were a great many relatives and friends from Seneca, Baileyville and Axtell, Kansas communities.
The arrangements for the service were made by the Lauer Funeral Home.
