Anna Louise Hulsing

Seneca, KS

Anna Louise Hulsing, 97, of Seneca died on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.

Anna was born on March 15, 1917 to Henry and Anna Rethman Wichman Sr, on a farm north of Seneca in the St. Benedict Community. She attended St Mary’s Grade School in St. Benedict and graduated from the 8th Grade.

On September 23, 1940, she married Emil J. Hulsing at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. They lived south of St. Benedict and in St. Benedict before moving to the Wichman farm north of Seneca, where the couple cared for Anna Louise’s parents for ten years. In 1957, they moved to a farm northeast of Seneca. The couple lived there until Emil’s death on February 10, 1994. Anna built a lovely new home in Seneca, moving into it in 1996. On August 1, 2004 she moved to Crestview’s Residential Living; and in May 2014 she moved to Crestview’s Nursing Home.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed needlework and quilting; making baby quilts for gifts for family and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Wichman on October 12, 1955; her mother, Anna Rethman Wichman on May 17, 1952; and her siblings, John Wichman on March 18, 1965, Frank Wichman in 1903, Rose Skoch on January 9, 1983, Susie Meyer on February 10, 1985, Bertha Tangeman on June 24, 1993, Fred “Fritz” Wichman on June 24, 1978, Nora Schurman on February 12, 1994, Edith Haug on June 5, 1984, Albert Wichman on February 28, 1995 and Henry Wichman Jr on April 21, 1987.

She is survived by two sons, Greg (Vicki) Hulsing of Seneca and Roger Hulsing of Seneca; and five granddaughters and three great grandchildren.

Rosaries will be prayed at the Lauer Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 30th at 2&7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at 10AM on Wednesday, December 31st. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be left in Anna Louise’s memory to St. Mary’s Cemetery and/or Sts. Peter & Paul.
