Annie B. Kramer, beloved grandma to all, passed away early Thursday morning surrounded by family members of several generations, at the age of 91 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, Seneca, KS.

Albert L and Anna (Rottinghaus) Korte welcomed their daughter, Annie Bernadette, into their hearts on September 18, 1926. After the passing of her mother Anna, when she was only 2 1/2 years old, Annie lived with her Rottinghaus grandparents until her father re-married Mary (Wessel) Korte in 1931. Annie had two siblings, Gladys Niehaus of Lake City, MN and Robert Korte (deceased) of Goff, KS.

Annie attended Kelly School until the 8th grade then entered the work force as a mid-wife for $1.00 per day. She also butchered chickens for the Sisters of Kelly for additional income.

Early in 1944 at a Wessel gathering, Annie met her true love, Eugene Kramer. After a short courting, Eugene proposed to Annie before the Christmas of 1944. On November 20, 1945 in St. Bede’s Church in Kelly, KS, Annie and Eugene were married. Annie and Eugene lived with both parents until 1949 when they moved to a farmstead in Kelly, KS. In 1966, they purchased the farm which is known as the “Kramer Dairy Farm” today. After many years on the farm, Eugene moved the family to a new home built north of Seneca, KS. Annie still resided at this home until 2 months ago when she decided to seek the companionship of others at the Life Care Center in Seneca, KS.

In 1978, Annie and Eugene purchased the well-known Prairie Lounge. Many delicious, home cooked meals were served and the famous “Onion Rings” were founded. Annie was well known for her love of baking and cooking various meals for all. Later, the Prairie Lounge was sold due to the untimely passing of Eugene in 1984 and was re-named Valentino’s. Annie continued to work at Valentino’s from 1988 to 2012 and catered many meals which included her famous Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. Annie helped Valentino’s receive 12 White Glove Awards for prestigious cleaning and care of the business. From 2012 to 2014, Annie worked in the cafeteria for SPPS until she became too ill to work. Annie loved working with the children and being a “Grandma Annie” to them all.

Annie was a very dedicated, loving, hard working woman who always put others before herself. Praying the rosary everyday was a covenant Annie made to God after the miss-carriages of two children. She promised to say the Rosary every night if he blessed her with a child. God did grant Annie and Eugene with seven surviving children, Diann (Daryl) Funk, Joyce (Bob) Roeder, Lynn (Charlene) Kramer, Dennis Kramer, Gail (Lynn) Lierz, Earl (Kathy) Kramer and Lisa Kramer. Annie is survived by a sister Gladys Niehaus of Lake City, MN.

Nothing brought Annie more pride than the love of her 15 grandchildren, Jason Kramer, Tim Roeder, Laurie Osterhaus, Joey Kramer, Katie Wolf, Tracy Myers, Wendy Fleagle, Justin Kramer, Shelly Slama, Darek Funk, Nikki Ronnebaum, Jeff Kramer, Rusty Kramer, Darcee Bosseletti, and Chris Lierz.

32 great-grandchildren were showered with the love of “Grandma Annie”, Carter Meiners, Francesco, Marco and Anna Bosseletti; Briana Marcum, Hadleigh and Ryker Wolf; Egan, Quinley and Hayden Roeder; Shiann, Alleigh, Kace, Kruze, Evalee, Brecken, Latham, Nola, Kinley and Kaiya Kramer, Josie and Addison Osterhaus; Charli and Hunter Fleagle; Ethan, Mason and Brycen Ronnebaum; Jessica, Jacob and Jody Slama, Craig and Chayse Kramer .

Annie enjoyed crocheting blankets, tree skirts and hand towels as a fun past time, and as collectables for her children, grand-children and great-children. All of these items will now be treasures of her love and a reminder of how special of a person, Annie Kramer was. Getting together with family and friends made Annie feel like the richest person in the world. Annie was a member of the St. Bede’s Altar Society, the St. Ann’s Altar Society and a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Annie was welcomed “Home” by many family members: her mother, Anna Korte (1929); her father, Albert Korte (1972); her loving husband Eugene (1984); her step-mother, Mary Korte (2000); and her brother Robert Korte (2006) and many close friends.

Rosaries will be prayed Sunday at 1 and 7 P.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

The mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 A.M. at St. Bede’s Church, Kelly, KS on Monday, December 4, 2017.

Annie will be laid to rest by her life partner Eugene at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Seneca, KS.

Memorials may be given to the Nemaha County Training Center (NCTC) of Seneca, KS sent in care of the family.
