Barbara "Bobby" Osterhaus

Barbara “Bobby” Louise Osterhaus, 72, of Seneca, Kansas, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born on April 20, 1943 in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to Suitbert and Elizabeth Hutfles Stallbaumer. She lived on the family farm south of Corning for 12 years, before the family moved into Corning. Bobby attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and Corning High School, graduating with the class of 1961. She was employed in Omaha, Nebraska as a young woman.

Bobby married Leon F. Osterhaus on July 3, 1965 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning. She raised four children before babysitting children in the 1980s; she had to stop when her health declined. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.

Bobby was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church in Seneca. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, going to the Casino, games on her Kindle, cooking, camping and gardening. She cheered on the Royals, Chefs, KSU and KU teams.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucille Eisenbarth on April 9, 2008 and Margaret “Peggy” Osterhaus on October 7, 2007; Brothers, Daniel Stallbaumer on November 1, 2003, Benedict L. Stallbaumer on February 23, 2006, Terry L. Stallbaumer on July 29, 2007 and Mike Stallbaumer on October 12, 2008.

Survivors besides her husband Leon are her sons, John Osterhaus of Seneca and Tim (Sandra) Osterhaus of Jonesborough, Tennessee; her daughters, Angie House of Seneca and Stacy (Kirby) Vaughn of Frankfort, Kansas; brothers, Ervan Stallbaumer of Tulsa, Oklahoma, John Stallbaumer of Hoyt, Kansas, Lester Stallbaumer of Holton, Kansas and James Stallbaumer of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Mary Ann Grollmes of Netawaka, Kansas and Janice Jenkins of Paola, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Caitlin House, Kyle Vaughn, Kaci Vaughn and Jo Beth Davis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Friday, August 14th, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed on Thursday at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School and/or Sts. Peter & Paul Church.
