Bernard G. Steinlage, 71, died Tuesday September 23 at the Seneca Hospital, after battling cancer.

He was born Aug 18, 1915 at the family homestead west of Kelly, the son of William and Anna Sievenka Steinlage. Bernard attended St. Bede’s Catholic School at Kelly and spent his life in the Kelly community. He was a farmer, dairyman, and stockman.

On Aug 23, 1949, he married Marjorie Nolte at St. Bede’s Church. They celebrated 37 years of marriage together, and was blessed with 8 children.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, his children Gary (Karen) Steinlage of Topeka, Richard Steinlage of Kelly, Dennis (Connie) Steinlage of Silver Lake, Geralynn(Fred) Kohake of Centralia, Douglas Steinlage and Gerimarie Steinlage of Kelly, and 10 grandchildren.  Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bokern and Mrs. Clara Ritchie, both of Seneca, and a bother Joe Steinlage of Centralia.

He was preceded in death, by a daughter Roxann, January 3, 1962, and a son Glenn, December, 24, 1972 and two sisters, Magdalen Rottinghaus and Christine Steinlage.

Rosaries will be recited on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. at Lauer Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bede’s Church in Kelly. Burial will be at St. Bede’s cemetery.
