Clarence E. Tryon

Seneca, KS

Clarence E. Tryon, 63, of Seneca, died Friday, September 1, 2017. His courageous year and half battle with lung cancer ended peacefully in his home.

Clarence was born in Seneca on March 9, 1954 to Alfred E. and Sylvia L. Tryon/McGehee. Clarence grew up in Seneca, attending Seneca Public School and graduated from Nemaha Valley High School in 1973. As a young man, he was employed by Matt Roeder’s Dairy Farm and later by Flair-Fold’s bi-fold doors, shutters and shelving products which was acquired by Abitibi-Price Inc, constructing shutters in Hiawatha. Later on, he was a truck driver for Toby’s out of Centralia and then he became an owner/operator for Wiers Trucking out of Bern until his health forced him to retire.

On September 20, 1975 he married Linda Scott, daughter of the late James and Joyce Scott of Centralia. From this marriage, they had five children of which they all still survive. They later divorced. Then on March 31, 1995 Clarence married Sandra M. Shockey, daughter of Fred and Betty Shockey of Seneca. From this marriage came four more children and a step daughter. They celebrated 22 years of marriage.

Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, playing poker, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia McGehee on December 14, 1997, Alfred Tryon on January 12, 2002 and his step father, Billy “Bud” McGehee on August 22, 2002; siblings, Sylvia L. Shockey on March 22, 2015 and Shirley Christie on May 23, 2016.

Clarence is survived by his wife Sandra, his children, Clarence Tryon Jr. of Fairview, Christopher (Renee) Tryon of Warrenton, Missouri, Joyce Tryon (James Dishong) of Seneca, Sylvia (Samuel) Koch of Seneca, Andrew Tryon of Seneca, Jennifer Shockey of Marysville, Michael Tryon of Seneca, Kelsey Tryon of Seneca, Mary Tryon of Seneca, Jessie Tryon of Seneca; siblings, Ted Tryon of Summerfield, Deb (Jon) Germer of Ralston, Nebraska, Peggy Bottom of Beattie, Bill McGehee of Beattie and Fred (June) McGehee of Topeka; and 21 grandchildren plus 3 unborn grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren and 1 unborn great grandchild.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Beattie. Burial will be in the Beattie City Cemetery.
