David M. Lackey

David M. Lackey, 16, of Seneca, Kansas, died Friday, October 3, 2003, at the scene of a car accident north of Seneca.
He was born February 5, 1987, in Seneca, the son of Galen and Marilyn Kramer Lackey. David grew up in Seneca and graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul Grade School in 2001. He was a junior at Nemaha Valley High School in Seneca where he played tight end and linebacker on the football team. He had caught his first touchdown pass earlier in the evening in a game against Hiawatha before being lost to a car accident. In school he liked computers and shop. During the summer he played baseball and helped coach the Seneca youth football. He also enjoyed playing golf.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, and a former member of Troop #71 of the Boy Scouts of America, with a 1st Class badge.
Survivors besides his parents are a brother, Brad Lackey of Lenexa, Kansas; two sisters, Jennifer and Sara, both of Manhattan, attending Kansas State University; his grandmother, Alma Kramer, Goff, Kansas; and aunts, uncles, cousins and many other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Sunday, with a vigil prayer service at 7 PM Sunday, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Friends may call at the funeral home after 8:30 AM Sunday.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul School or Nemaha Valley High School, and sent in care of the family.
