Deloye Joseph Hunninghake

Baileyville, Kansas

03/25/1952 - 06/09/2018

Deloye J. Hunninghake, 66, of Baileyville, died unexpectedly at his home, Saturday morning, June 9, 2018.

Deloye was born on March 25, 1952, in Axtell to Lester and Wilma Bergman Hunninghake. He attended Baileyville High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. Deloye went on to attend Atchison Vocational School.

As a young man, Deloye was employed by the United States Postal Service before being employed for 18 years at Nemaha County Coop. For a short time, Deloye had his own contract to deliver the mail to the local Post Offices in the area. Deloye also worked for five years at Darling Enterprise in the fabrications. One of the greatest joys in his working career, was working with his father and brother on the family farm. Deloye had recently retired.

On January 21, 1978, Deloye married Carol Koerperich at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He loved woodworking, softball, watching westerns, hanging out at Beaver’s Station in Baileyville and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville.

Deloye was preceded in death by his son, Bradley J. Hunninghake on August 13, 1994; his father, Lester Hunninghake on May 21, 2013; his mother, Wilma Hunninghake on January 20, 2017; his father-in-law, Leroy Koerperich; and his sister-in-law, Carol (James) Hunninghake.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carol; his children, Terry (Kim) Hunninghake of Wamego, Tracie (Robert) Wagner of Baileyville and Brent (Maggie) Hunninghake of Baileyville; nine grandchildren, Kelton Hunninghake, Dempsey Haverkamp, Riggin and Knox Hunninghake, Emmett and Grace Hunninghake, Kollin, Kyra and Kraighton Wagner; and siblings, James Hunninghake of Green Ridge, Missouri, Gale (Mary Jane) Hunninghake of Seneca and Brenda (Mark) Meyer of Baileyville.

Rosaries will be prayed on Monday, June 11th at 2 & 7 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM on Tuesday, June 12th at Sacred Heart’s Catholic Church in Baileyville.

Memorials may be left in Deloye’s memory to Sacred Heart Church.

      Sorry to hear about Deloye.We had a lot of laughs during harvest time at Baileyville Co-op.I hadn’t seen him in a while,but he will be easy to remember.Our sympathies to Carol and all his family.
