Donald E. Kramer

Donald Edward Kramer, 88, of Goff, KS, died at Wednesday evening, November 4, 2015, at Life Care Center of Seneca.

Donald was born on April 21, 1927 on a farm near Baileyville, KS to Henry and Elizabeth Dick Kramer. He was raised in the Baileyville area and attended grade school in Baileyville; he attended Baileyville High School. In 1944, when he was 17 years old, he joined the U.S. Army; he was honorably discharged on June 30, 1965 as SP6 E-6 in Fitzsimons General Hospital, Denver, Colorado.

On October 19, 1946 he married Ardis Clapsaddle at Fort Worth, Texas while he was in the Military. They lived and traveled to several places including Germany, Japan and various states. On July 1, 1965, he retired and they moved to a farm southeast of Oneida, where he farmed and had a dairy for four years, also working as a nurse at the Sabetha Hospital. They moved to Goff in 1969. At the same time Don went to work for Goodyear in Topeka until 1980.

Donald was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore and the American Legion of Goff. He enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a card group that met every Tuesday night. He loved being a farmer and took pride in his crops and cattle.

He is survived by his son, Rick (Mary) Kramer of Ionia, Michigan; his two daughters, Nancy (Jim) Wecker of Holton and Debra (Michael) LeFevree of Red Oak, Iowa; a sister, Betty Boeding of Grandview, MO; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a close friend and a companion, Marclare Bell of Goff.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis on May 29, 1992; a son Roger Kramer on March 6, 1984; brothers, Jim, John, Louis, Adrian and Leroy; and a sister, Rosemary Nolte.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 7th, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baileyville. Rosary will be prayed at 2 PM Friday, November 6, 2015 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given in Donald’s memory to Sacred Heart Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
