Donald P. Stallbaumer
Seneca, KS
07/19/1920 - 04/04/2012
Donald P. Stallbaumer, 91, of Seneca, KS, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Crestview Manor care home in Seneca.
Don was born July 19, 1920, on a farm north of Axtell, the son of Claude and Agnes Feldkamp Stallbaumer. He attended a country school.
Don was married to Teresa Wiltz; she preceded him in death.
After his schooling he helped his dad on a farm near Fidelity, KS. On July 8, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth. He served with the 24th Coast Artillery Battalion and was stationed at Fort Ord in California; he was honorably discharged on November 3, 1945.
He then returned to the Sabetha and Seneca area and worked as a steeple jack and a painter. Since he was fearless working at heights, he repaired many church steeples in the area and was very proud of that accomplishment. He was later an insurance broker and sold insurance for several companies until he retired.
He loved to dance and would take every opportunity to do so. He enjoyed watching football and other sporting events.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca and the American Legion Earl W. Taylor Post #21 in Seneca.
Don is survived by his daughters, Marie Gray of San Jose, CA, Jeanette Kocher of Hiawatha, KS, Lorraine Liccardi of Topeka, and Janet McGlothlin of Olathe, KS; a son, Larry Stallbaumer of Hoyt, KS; a long time friend, Mary Ann Olberding of Seneca; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Dennis on June 7, 2000; his brothers, Virgil and Regis; and a sister, Eileen Redinger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 PM Wednesday, April 11, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Fidelity.
