Donna Z. Hulsing

Seneca, KS

05/14/1936 - 08/26/2014

Donna Zoe Arnold Hulsing, 78, of Seneca, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her home in Seneca.

Donna was born on May 14, 1936 to Thomas E. and Mary Yates Arnold, Sr. in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Wyandotte High School and became a hair stylist after graduating from Callhan’s Beauty School. She owned and operated three hair salons in Kansas City in the 1970s. She worked at KU Medical Center as a data entry supervisor for 14 years, retiring in 1991. After moving to Seneca, she worked at Big B Thriftway for several years.

After retirement, Donna enjoyed many activities; trying her luck at all nearby casinos where she seemed to always come out a winner! Donna met Victor (Buddy) Hulsing in 1997 and her life with him could not have been happier. Bud and Donna were married in Reno, Nevada on August 26, 2006. They enjoyed traveling to Navy ship reunions, K-State games; but most of all they enjoyed each other’s company. Wherever they were, it seemed the fun would follow—young or old, everyone enjoyed being around Bud and Donna.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict and the Seneca VFW Post 7458 Women’s Auxiliary.

Donna is survived by her husband, Victor (Buddy) Hulsing of Seneca; a son, William (Anitia) Burchit of Edgerton, Missouri; a daughter, Brenda Burchit of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister Mary Fiene of Lawrence, Kansas; 5 step-children Kurt (Jolene) Hulsing of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Michelle Hulsing of Omaha, Nebraska, Mark (Shellie) Hulsing of Council Bluffs Iowa, Denise (Jerry) Carew of Omaha, Nebraska, and Karla Ames of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 8 step grandchildren.

Rosaries will be Friday, August 29th at 2 and 7 PM at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, Kansas. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
