Edwin C. Deters

Edwin Charles Deters, 18, of Rural Baileyville, died May 18, 1987, shortly after his arrival at the Nemaha valley Community Hospital. His death was the results of his injuries he suffered in an accident with his pickup truck.
Ed was born September 22, 1968, in Seneca, the son of Merlin L. and Judy Kohake Deters. He grew up on the family farm on the west side of Baileyville where he helped with the Grade A dairy operation.
He attended #451, B & B School where he was a senior where he was going to graduate. Ed played basketball and football, where he was named all-league player.
For the past several weeks, he had worked at Industrial Millwork, where he helped manufactured wood doors. In the industrial arts class at school he enjoyed woodworking and made both a grandfather and a grandmother clock, drawing out his own plans.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart church and the CYO of which he had severed as the vice-president, Ed was a outgoing friendly young man who was well liked by everyone.
Survivors besides his parents are two brothers Damian Deters and Terry Deters, and three sisters Pamela Deters, Anna Deters and Katie Deters all of the home. Ed is also survived by his grandparents Daniel and Mary Kohake of Centralia.
The Mass and Christian Burial will be a double services for Edwin Deters and Ronald Duryea, a victim of the same accident will be Wednesday, May 20, 1987 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baileyville. A rosary will be prayed at 1 P.M. on Monday for Edwin Deters and Ronald Duryea is for the students and faculty of B&B High School. There will be a rosary at 8P.M. for the community at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
