Elda A. Stallbaumer

Elda A. Stallbaumer, 91, of Seneca, Kansas, died Monday evening, May 26, 2014 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Elda was born October 25, 1922, on a farm north of Baileyville, Kansas to Edward B. and Mary Feldkamp Haverkamp. She attended a country school, District #10 through the 8th grade year.
On May 10, 1944, she married Mark Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict. Her husband, Mark passed away on June 4, 2008. As a young couple, they farmed and lived northwest of Seneca. In 1946 they bought a farm north of Baileyville, and expanded their operation in 1954, when they bought a farm southwest of Seneca, where they resided until 1976.
When her husband Mark’s electronic repair business expanded, they built a new shop on Highway 36 in 1964, which also featured an adjoining laundomat business. They retired from the repair shop and sold it in 1981, and sold the laundromat in 1982.
Elda and Mark built a home in Seneca in September of 1976; for years, they traveled across the U.S. in a motor home and wintered in Arizona. Elda loved to make afghans, quilts, bunnies, pin cushions, craft items. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, playing Bingo and gardening.
Elda was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the St. Ann’s Altar Society, and a past member of Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville.
Survivors are three sons, Galen Stallbaumer of Seneca, Terry ‘Norma’ Stallbaumer of St. Bridget, and Dean “Marilyn” Stallbaumer of Centralia; three daughters, Edna Mae Koch of Kansas City, Kansas, Kathleen ‘Bob’ Bowhay of Du Bois, Nebraska, and Jane ‘Elmer’ Haug of Centralia; two brother, Cletus Haverkamp of Corning, Vernus Haverkamp of St. Benedict; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Haverkamp; her grandson, Nicholas Stallbaumer; and a granddaughter, Jenny Marie Stallbaumer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Wednesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
