Elmo A. “Mo” Warren

Seneca, KS

Elmo A. “Mo” Warren, 96, of Seneca, KS, died Monday morning, March 9, 2009, at his son-in-law Leo Meyer’s home, where he lived for years.

Mo was born in Hays, KS on September 1, 1912, the son of George and May Warren, one of four children. He graduated from Wyandott High School in 1930. On January 1, 1935, he married Fauneal Honey. After getting married, he became the chief distributor at a wholesale fruit and vegetable warehouse for seven years. During WW II, he worked for Aircraft Accessories in Kansas City, MO, building aircraft avionics for seven years. In 1947, he began his career with the Singer Sewing Machine Co, working his way to district manager, earning national recognition as Top Salesman Worldwide in 1969. He retired from Singer in 1974, and moved to Seneca where he opened a sewing machine repair business and became known as “The Sewing Machine Man.”

Mo was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. He enjoyed reading western novels and traveling.

He is survived by his son-in-law Leo Meyer and wife Teresa of Seneca; two sisters, Laurene Sayler and Casona Stromberg, both of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Mark Meyer and Alison Peck, both of Wichita; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fauneal on August 4, 1984; his only child, Joyce Meyer on December 4, 1997; and a sister, Helen Wolfe.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Wednesday, March 11, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be left in Mo’s memory for the Sts. Peter & Paul Building Fund, and sent in care of the family.
