Ethel M. Carroll, 85, of Seneca, KS, died early Saturday morning, July 10, 2010, at Life Care Center in Seneca, where she had been a resident since 1994.
Ethel was born on August 19, 1924, in Baileyville, KS, the daughter of George and Bertha (Dick) Carroll. When Ethel was four years old her mother died of scarlet fever. Ethel and her brothers went to live with her grandparents, John and Christina Fox Dick, until Ethel was in the eighth grade. Then the family moved into their own home. She graduated from Baileyville High School. She then worked for Wilson Sporting Goods Store in Kansas City, MO for 17 years, where she did their silk embroidery writing. When she retired she moved to Seneca to live with her father.
Ethel had three brothers, all of whom are now deceased; Leroy died at birth, Ralph was killed in a automobile accident when he was 25 years old, and Lester died shortly after his retirement.
Ethel is survived by her nephews and nieces, Roger Carroll of Omaha, NE, Mike Carroll of Lincoln, NE, Pat Carroll of Weston, NE, Anna Marie Carroll, Ina Sue Carroll, Debra Ann Manley, and Rose Wells.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 PM Tuesday, July 13, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baileyville.
Memorials may be given in Ethel’s name to Sts. Peter & Paul Church, and sent in care of the family.
