Frank J. Broxterman

Seneca, KS

Frank J. Broxterman, 91, of Seneca, KS, died Sunday, January 2, 2005, shortly after arrival at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

He was born January 21, 1913, on a farm northeast of Baileyville, KS, the son of August and Mary Schaefer Broxterman. When he was six years old, the family moved to a farm west of Baileyville. He attended Sacred Heart School at Baileyville and helped on the family farm. As a young man, he worked for farmers in the area.

On February 18, 1941, he married Rita M. Stallbaumer at St. Mary’s Church at St. Benedict, KS. They farmed northeast of Baileyville, raised cattle and hogs, and had a dairy operation. In April of 1986, they retired and moved to Seneca.

His memberships include Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Joseph Society, and the Knights of Columbus #1769 for over 70 years, all in Seneca. He was also a former member of Sacred Heart Church and served on the board of the Baileyville Rural Water District Board for six years during the 1970s.

He enjoyed bowling, and in later years his family encouraged him to play golf which he discovered he liked.

Survivors are his wife, Rita, of the home in Seneca; four sons, Steven Broxterman of Kansas City, KS, Roger Broxterman of Lago Vista, TX, Gary Broxterman of Harleysville, PA, and David Broxterman of Bates City, MO; a daughter, Sandra Feldkamp of Manhattan, KS; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Karnowski and Clara Katopish, and a grandson, Jeffrey Broxterman, November 22, 2003.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Tuesday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for Sacred Heart Church, and sent in care of the family.
