Gage A. Leishing, 17, of Baileyville, Kansas died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home northeast of Baileyville.
He was born on October 4, 1995 in Salina, Kansas to Montgomery and Tammi Harkness Leishing. He attended B&B High School in Baileyville, completing his junior year. Gage played nose guard for the B&B Falcon football team the last three years, for a team that won two state championship titles. He enjoyed lifting weights, especially power lifting. He competed in power-lifting meets, and always ranked high, including first place, for his weight division. He was a talented artist and planned on joining the Marines after high school.
He worked as a clerk at Cenex and at BP in Seneca. He read Stephen King, listened to music, collected knives and swords, and enjoyed electronics.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Keith and Mary Virginia Harkness, and Michael and Carolyn Leishing.
He is survived by his parents, Montgomery and Tammi Leishing of Baileyville; six siblings, Tasha Leishing of Beloit, and Egypt, Wesley, Mariah, Natalie and Sabrina Leishing, all of Baileyville; aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins and friends.
Family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, July 10, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The funeral service will be 10 AM Thursday, July 11, at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the Baileyville City Cemetery.
Memorials may be given for the Gage Leishing Memorial Fund, care of Baileyville State Bank.
