George P. (Saki) Gress

George Patrick (Saki) Gress, 83, of Kansas City, MO passed away on July 4, 2017 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensberg, MO from pneumonia as a complication from Lewy Body Dementia.
George was born on 23 November 1933 in Sabetha, KS to Rose Becker Gress and George F. Gress. George grew up on a farm northeast of Seneca. He graduated from Sts Peter and Paul High School in Seneca, KS on 18 May 1951.
George married K’Lynne Clements on 11 June 1960 at the Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, KS. They resided in KCMO their entire married life where they raised their 3 children and celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
George enlisted in the US Army on May 2, 1956 and was discharged on April 9, 1958 at the rank of 8p-3 (T). during his tour in the service he was a Track Vehicle Mechanic. He served with the CO. B 2nd Med Tk Bn 69th Armor Division and served most of his tour in Germany. He was a carpenter and retired from Walter L. Monroe Construction Company in 1991.
He was a member of the Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church of KCMO for 56 years. Woodworking in his spare time was one of his hobbies.
He is survived by his wife K’Lynne Clements Gress and their children Debby Huffman (Randy) of Beaumont, TX, Dean Gress (Karla) of Melissa, TX, Scott Gress (Sheri) of Pleasant Hill, MO, brothers Omer Gress, and Melvin (Red) Gress (Florence) both of Yakima, WA, Grandchildren: Adam, Dave, Austen, Abbye and Ayden Gress, Great Grandson: Maxwell Gress, Step Grandchildren: Megan Chambers (Jason), Justin Myrick (Danielle), Patience Huffman, Step Great Granddaughter: Julieta Chambers, and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents George and Rose Gress, and sisters Mildred McCaffery and Rosemary Olberding.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:00A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, followed by a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday July 10th, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church which is located at 4101 E. 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64137.
Inurnment: Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Seneca, KS. At a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Lauer Funeral Home 212 S. 4th Street, Seneca, KS 66538 for the Missouri Veterans Home at Warrensburg or Crossroads Hospice Care, Kansas City MO.
