Glenn A. Wichman

Glenn A. Wichman, 77, of Seneca, KS, died Thursday morning, November 2, 2006, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City. He was transferred there after suffering an apparent cerebral vascular incident at his home on October 29.

He was born on a farm east of Seneca on August 31, 1929, the son of Louis H., Sr. and Mary Carlin Wichman. Glen grew up there and attended Victory School and Sts. Peter & Paul School. He worked with his father on the farm. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After discharge, he returned to farming.

On February 27, 1957, he married Mary Fisher at St. Anthony Church in Steinauer, NE. They lived east of Seneca where he raised hogs, cattle, and farmed, until they retired and moved into Seneca in 1991.

Glenn was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Joseph Society, the Knights of Columbus #1769, the Seneca Memorial Post #7458 of the VFW, and the Earle W. Taylor Post #21 of the American Legion, all in Seneca. He volunteered at the Sts. Peter & Paul Mission Center for many years. He also enjoyed feeding animals, especially squirrels, going to the coffee shop, hunting, and gardening.

Survivors are his wife Mary of the home; two daughters, Denise Strathman of Goff and Dolores Roggenkamp of Sabetha; two brothers, Ray Wichman of Seneca and Harold Wichman of Litchfield Park, AZ; three sisters, Lucille Lierz of Seneca, Ellen Ramsby of Milwaukee, OR, and Audrey Luckeroth of Lawrence; and five grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tom, Walter and Louis Wichman.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Monday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Sunday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for the VFW or for Sts. Peter & Paul Mission Center, and sent in care of the family.
