Irene Hoskins

Irene C. Knight Hoskins, 95, of Centralia died on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia.
She was born on July 30, 1918 to Edward and Emelia Karlin Polifka in Hayes, Kansas.
She married Cornelius Knight in April 19, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas. He died on July 24, 1958. She worked for Crown Drug Store and Pelletiers in Topeka, retiring in 1979.
She married William H. Hoskins on June 8, 2002 in Topeka at Most Pure Heart of Mary. The couple moved to Centralia, Kansas and she belonged to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning, Kansas. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary all in Topeka.
She was preceded in death by brothers Edward and George Polifka; and sisters, Marie Langley, Eleanor Gross, Lucille Cook and Edna Hopper.
She is survived by a sister, Rita Vale of Florissant, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
Rosaries will be prayed on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM onSaturday, December 7th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning, followed by burial in the Historic Topeka Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be left in Irene’s memory to the Mission of Sacred Heart Association.
