Iris H. Huerter, 83, of Kelly, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Life Care Center in Seneca.

Iris was born July 16, 1930, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Doris Devinney Bantle. She attended New Haven High School in New Haven, Michigan, graduating in 1948.

She married Alfred E. “Smitty” Huerter on February 14, 1953, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

In 1977 Iris went to work for CR Industries in Seneca; she was employed for 10 years as an auditor.

Iris was a talented pianist and violinist player; who enjoyed playing at area dances. She also enjoyed fishing, worked with flowers and doing crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Randall D. Huerter on October 29, 2009 and Michael G. Huerter on September 2, 1986; three grandchildren, James G. Huerter on November 2, 1998, Michelle B. Huerter on May 11, 1981 and Stephanie A. Huerter on March 2, 1996; brothers Francis, Loren and Frank Jr.; and a sister, Margie.

Iris is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alfred; two sons, Rick (Linda) Huerter of Seneca and Mark (Hanna) Huerter of Corning; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February26th St. Bede’s Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Tuesday, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
