Jeanette A. Heinen, 82, of Seneca, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Jeannette was born August 17, 1930, on a farm south of Seneca, the daughter of Clem and Agatha Huerter Heinen. She attended St. Bede’s School in Kelly and graduated from high school in 1948.
After graduation she went to work at Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Topeka, retiring after 36 years with the company. After her retirement she came back to Seneca to take care of her mother. Jeanette remained in Seneca making it her home.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca and St. Ann’s Altar Society at the church.
Jeanette loved to cook and crochet, play cards, and enjoyed driving a new car, trading every year.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alice Heinen on October 27, 1935.
Survivors include her brother Norbert (Jane) Heinen of Seneca; four sisters, Helen (Elmer) Sack of Seneca, Mildred (Gerald) Mathewson of Seneca, Arlene (Joe) Gudenkauf of Seneca and Dorothy (Bill) Eaton of Maple Hill; a niece, Marya Haverkamp, and two nephews, Scott and Glenn Heinen; four great-nieces and seven great-nephews.
A rosary will be prayed at 3 PM Thursday, November 22, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 AM Friday, November 23, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Seneca. She will lie in state Thursday morning at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.
Memorials may be given for Sts. Peter & Paul Church and Cemetery, and sent in care of the family.
