Jeanette A. Holthaus

Jeanette Ann Bergman Holthaus, 65, of Centralia, died Tuesday evening, September 13, 2016 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
Jeanette was born on July 2, 1951, on a farm north of St. Benedict to Emmett E. and Hilda M. Wessel Bergman. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from B&B High School in 1969.
After school she went to work for Dr. Al E. Vitt at his dental office in Seneca she continued working there until she started to raise her children. Jeanette was a stay home mom until 1989 when she went to work at the American Legion and for the Centralia School’s as a cook in their lunch program. She retired in 2015 due to health reasons.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville and the Altar Society and was active in 4-H where she was a leader in the Centralia Aces.
Jeanette had many interests which included fishing, cards, gardening, quilting, scrap booking, puzzles, cooking, baking, wood working and crafts.
She married Eugene P. Holthaus on April 11, 1970 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, Kansas.
Survivors are her husband of 46 years, Eugene, of the home; one son, Kevin Holthaus of Centralia, three daughters, Shelli Slater of Centralia, Janell (Derek) Mueller of Topeka and Sarah (Shane) Kramer of Centralia; Her mother Hilda Bergman of St. Benedict, Three brothers, Reginald of St. Benedict, and Mark of Seneca, and Lyle of Murray, Kentucky; four sisters, Judy Larkin of Seneca, Connie Huerter of Seneca, Marleen Holthaus of Axtell, and Lois Enneking of Bern; 9 grandsons and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett E. Bergman on August 23, 2006.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed Friday at 2 & 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home.
Memorials will be designated later and sent in care of the family.
