Joan M. “Babe” Palmer, 74, of Seneca, KS, died early Sunday morning, July 22, 2007, at her daughter Cathy’s home south of Sabetha.
Joan was born in Seneca on November 8, 1932, the daughter of Henry and Mary Rethman Enneking. She attended Sts. Peter & Paul School and graduated from high school in 1950.
On February 11, 1956, she married Bernard Palmer in Wichita; they moved to Topeka where they had two daughters, Jodi and Cathy. Before Bernard death’s on March 21, 1966, the family moved to Seneca. After becoming a widow, Joan worked as a cook at several area restaurants. Joan then took a job at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital and worked there until her retirement in 1997.
Joan loved spending time with her family. She also took great pleasure in cooking, crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Jodi and Lynn Brashwitz, and Cathy and Carl Cannon, all of Sabetha; two sisters, Jerri Huerter of Seneca and Virginia Roggenkamp of Blaine; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Robert Enneking, and a great-grandson Bernie.
A rosary was prayed Tuesday evening at the Lauer Funeral Home. Graveside service will be conducted by Father Kent O’Conner at 10 AM Tuesday, July 24, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Seneca.
