John J. Kramer

Goff, KS

John J. Kramer, 86, of Goff, KS, died at early Tuesday evening, September 23, 2008, at Life Care Center of Seneca.

John was born on June 14, 1922 on a farm near Neuchâtel, KS to Henry and Elizabeth Dick Kramer. He was raised in the Baileyville area and attended grade school in Baileyville; he graduated from Beattie High School in 1940. As a young man he went to work for Union Pacific Railroad for four years, then was hired by the Sabetha Hatchery.

On October 19, 1944 he married Madeline Luck in Solomon. They farmed in the Woodland and Oneida area until 1973 when they purchased a farm southeast of Goff. There he and his wife lived, farmed and raised cattle. Madeline, his wife of 53 years, died on August 17, 1998.

John was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore. He enjoyed playing cards and was a member of a card group that met every Tuesday night. He loved being a farmer and took pride in his crops and cattle.

He is survived by his three sons, Keith of Oneida, Terry of Goff, and Daniel of Lenexa; a special friend, Eleanor Kidwell of Horton; two brothers, Don of Goff and Jim of Grand Junction, CO; a sister, Betty Boeding of Grandview, MO; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Madeline; three brothers, Louis, Adrian and Leroy; a sister, Rosemary Nolte; and two grandchildren, Kevin Kramer on October 11, 1974 and Anna M. Kramer on January 21, 1977.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 AM Saturday, September 27, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Friday at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given in John’s memory for the Nemaha County Training Center in Seneca, and sent in care of the family.
