Kathleen Ann Gudenkauf, 44, of Sabetha, KS, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Lakeside Terrace in Sabetha.

She was born January 29, 1965, at the Axtell Hospital, Axtell, KS, the daughter and first child of Paul V. and Janice Mulryan Gudenkauf. Kathleen grew up on the family farm northeast of Seneca. She attended special education at the Nemaha County Day Care Center which was located at Sts. Peter & Paul School in Seneca. In December of 1978 she moved to the Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka. On March 1, 1999, she moved to Lakeside Terrace in Sabetha where she could receive special care and also be near her family. She attended the Nemaha County Training Center during the week, where she worked on her personal skills. Kathleen also assisted in the greenhouse by planting and grooming plants. Her favorite time of the year was summer, as she loved being outside.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca.

She is survived by her parents, Paul and Janice Gudenkauf of Seneca; five brothers, Jim Gudenkauf of Marysville, Ron (Holly) Gudenkauf of Whiting, Steve (Lorie) and Tony Gudenkauf, both of Seneca, and Tom (Susan) Gudenkauf of Sabetha; two sisters, Patricia (Chris) Rhodes, and Vicky Gudenkauf, both of Manhattan; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, A.H. Tony & Celesta Gudenkauf and Dennis & Mary Mulryan.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Wednesday, March 4, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given in Kathleen’s memory for Sts. Peter & Paul Building Fund or Lakeside Terrace, and sent in care of the family.
