Kathryn Frances Lindeen, 95, Seneca, passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 25, 2014, at the Life Care Center in Seneca, KS.
On January 3, 1919, Kathryn, was born the third child of Delone S. and Katie Mae Smith Peck. They lived in a small rural community area called, Six Mile Station, GA, close to Rome, GA. She attended grade school in Forney, AL and Center High School in Center, AL. She was baptized at the Georgia New Bethel Baptist Church.
Kathryn married Roland T. Welsh of Rock Run, AL on May 10, 1936. They lived at Rock Run until his death on October 9, 1941. They were blessed with three children, Wilma Dean, Roland Douglas, and Brenda Joyce. She then worked at the Pepperell Fabric Plant in Lindale, GA where she met some good life-long friends. She met Elmer W. Lindeen while he was serving in the Army, stationed at Ft. Benning, GA. They were later married in Vliets, KS, on May 30, 1946; he preceded her in death on May 18, 1978. They lived in Seneca, KS most of their lives; having one child, Sandra Sue. Kathryn worked various jobs in Seneca, working at Sam’s Grocery store, the Seneca Hospital, and 20 years at J.C. Penney’s. She later worked for Country View Estates and the Nemaha Valley School Cafeteria.
Kathryn had many hobbies, reading, playing BINGO, painting, ceramics, quilting, sewing, all handcrafts and growing beautiful flowers. She hand crafted quilts and afghans for all of her children and their children. She was on a Bowling League for many years and was very involved with the Church and community activities. She was also a past member of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron. Kathryn devoted her life and love to the well-being of her children and their families.
She is survived by her children, Wilma Jones of Seneca, Doug Welsh of Topeka, Brenda and Shelton Stone of Branson and Sandra & Steve Vaught of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and 4 great-great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Ona Mae Hester of Forney, AL; a brother, George B. Peck of Summerville, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter Lee and Delone B. Peck; a son-in-law, Clyde Jones; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette (Hash) Welsh; and a great-great granddaughter, Olive Fleming.
A visitation will be held at 1PM, one hour prior to the funeral services, family and friends will come together to celebrate Kathryn’s life on Monday, December 29th at 2PM at Lauer Funeral Home. Internment shall take place at the Seneca Cemetery following the services.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to Lucy’s Love Bus, Cure Search and St. Baldrick’s Foundation, to be sent in care of family.
